I Hope That You Let Them Love You

I hope you let them love you. I hope that one day you wake up and it is so clear that the person who is lying next to you is someone who cares more about you than you will ever be able to fathom. That the person you stare at so lovingly is also staring back at you with the same goofy look on their face.

I hope that you let them see you at your best. I know that this is something that you have been working on for years - finding yourself. I know that it is hard to know what is your best when it feels like you are not enough. You are more than enough and I hope they remind you of that.

I hope you let them see you at your worst. I hope that the days when you feel like your world is crumbling and there is no escape from the catastrophe, that the person you are with can be the calm in the storm. That they can be the light that leads you back to shore. That they can be who you have been for so many people.

I hope they make you laugh. I know how much you love to laugh, who doesn’t? But I hope they make you laugh in a shoot-milk-from-your-nose sort of way. In a way that is genuine and feels like the best laugh you have ever bore witness to every time it happens.

I hope that they make you cry. Not in a bad way. I hope that they bring you so much joy that you cannot express the absolute euphoria of them being with you in any other way but to cry. I hope that the tears that escape are only the best kinds.

I hope that whoever you end up with is someone who understands you. Someone who can sit down and have conversations with you that you cannot have with anyone but them. Someone who is open to the idea that aliens exist and that human life is just a speck of what is possible in the universe. The deep and strange conversations that lead to memories made. The kinds you love.

I hope that you are able to let them love you in the way that you never thought possible. In the ways that are scary, but ultimately exciting. I hope that you get butterflies and that they make you feel like you are on cloud nine. I hope that they make you feel like you have never felt before.

I hope that you let them love you in the way that you love everyone else.
